Ray & Brenda Robertson Donate over 100 pairs of Shoes to Wray Family Clubhouse Members

During the last week of Summer Camp at the Wray Family Clubhouse, every member received a special surprise: a brand new pair of sneakers! Members were able to find shoes in their size and choose the style they liked best. The excitement over being gifted the shoes was hard to contain, but the kids politely paired up and chose the pair of shoes that were just right for them. In some cases, the children were replacing the shoes they were gifted last year at the Club! And who was it that donated all of these shoes, and has for the last couple of years? Ray and Brenda Robertson, longtime supporters of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada.

But why do they donate sneakers to every child that attends the Club? When Ray was young, he remembered that his shoes would get holes in them and were uncomfortable. He recalls seeing children in the same situation and it left a lasting impression on him. That impression stuck with Ray for years and inspired him to look for ways that he could help. He knew that he didn’t want children to have to go without good shoes the same way he did when he was young. So he and his wife Brenda got together with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada to work out a plan to provide for the kids of Carson Valley. Now, each year, Ray and Brenda, a  nearly thirty-year veteran of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada’s Board, donate a new pair to the children they love and support in so many ways.
