Healing Our Kids & Community with Carson Tahoe Health

Nevada is one of the lowest-ranked states in the nation for supporting youth with mental health and behavioral issues, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada recognize the critical need for youth mental health initiatives. In partnership with Carson Tahoe Health, our Carson City Clubhouse served as the pilot site for Carson Tahoe Health’s ‘Healing our Kids & Community’ initiative, designed to support youth mental health through community-based outreach and play-based programming in July and August of 2025.

The Healing our Kids & Community initiative offered over 30 hours of programming a week through their four ‘Vehicles of Change’, each with its own given theme: Food, Play, Sound, and Art. Each vehicle outreach program offers a series of sessions designed to promote creativity, teamwork, and self-expression through interactive activities like art projects, performances, and game creation. Different themes are explored during these interactive sessions, such as play, dreams, health, and fostering community, while celebrating growth and achievements. Since the pilot phase in 2025, Carson Tahoe Health has brought their Vehicles of Change to the Wray Family Clubhouse in Minden to allow our Carson Valley Club Members the opportunity to experience this one-of-a-kind program. This initiative brought an exciting and unique approach to mental health programming to keep our youth engaged and assist with advancing our mission of helping youth realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. Together, we’re opening the door to great futures for the youth in Carson City & Douglas County.
