Here to Lift Global Communities Up
We are part of a nationwide network located in every state, including Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and U.S. military installations overseas. The Boys & Girls Clubs of America delivers proven programs to millions of young people every day.
About Us
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada positively impacts youth from the moment they enter the door. Youth are provided a safe, structured, and positive environment where they can build relationships with caring adults, participate in fun and engaging programs, learn important skills, make new friends, and develop their talents.
Our doors are open to over 2,000 youth in the Carson City and Carson Valley area before and after school, during school breaks, through summer vacation, and in our preschool program. We’ve designed our programs to help youth create aspirations for the future, become the best versions of themselves, and engage in positive behaviors.
Making an Impact
Every day, we seek to inspire and help young people, especially those who need us the most, to realize their full potential. It’s our mission to support them in becoming productive, caring, and responsible citizens. And we’re proud of the impact we have on the lives of families right here in our communities.
In 2025, we had 2,000 members, served 78,264 meals and snacks, provided $268,152 in scholarships to our Club families, and had 534 donors across Carson City and Carson Valley.
Our History
We have been a cornerstone of the Carson City community since opening our doors in 1993. Previously located at the historic site on Stewart Street, we moved to our very own Clubhouse on Russell Way in August 2009. Our clubhouse provides over 20,500 square feet of safe and modern programming space for our members.
In December 2015, we added to our campus with the opening of the Carson City MAC (Multi-Purpose Athletic Center). This space, owned and operated by Carson City, provides our youth with an indoor space to practice, learn, and engage in sports and many different physical activities! Each year, we strive to improve on our programs to ensure we offer the best technology and activities.
In June 2016, we had another exciting addition when we added a 7,500 square foot Teen Center, which continues to have a great turnout and offers many opportunities to Carson City’s teens! Our Teen Center was made possible by a generous grant from the Pennington Foundation, matched by the generosity of our Club sponsors and donors.
2024 was a pivotal year of growth for the Clubs. We kicked off the year by launching our new daycare and preschool program, Smart Start, at our Carson City Clubhouse in January. Building on that success, we expanded by opening three additional Smart Start Centers, reaching over 230 children from newborns to five years old. But the momentum didn’t stop there. In November, we proudly opened our first Clubhouse in Carson Valley—the Wray Family Clubhouse. Named in honor of Lois Wray, who generously donated the building to BGCWN in 2023, this new facility serves kids and teens ranging from 9 months to 18 years old.
In January of 2026, we opened the long-awaited William N. Pennington Center Smart Start to add an additional 78 preschool seats in Carson City, alongside our three Smart Start Centers, combining over 260 preschool seats across Carson City & Douglas County.

“I went to the Club when I was younger, and I never thought I would be running a Boys & Girls Club site as an adult. Now, I get to come to work every day and spend time with the people that I call family. I wouldn't have it any other way.”
